Showing our appreciation

Yes my friends, it is teacher appreciation week. A week that as a teacher I love! As a first time parent of a student, I'm loving it even more. I get to be a gift giver! Not only am I being appreciated at school, I'm able to share the love with Bridget's teachers. Win-win! After thinking of all the great gifts I have received over the years, I thought back on my favorites. Those have been the thoughtful and handmade gifts. Also, if it has a bit of practicality thrown in, it's golden! So, on to Pinterest I went to find the perfect gifts to give.

For the longest time, I really wanted to make these decorated clipboards, but soon realized that I just don't have the time or patience right now to cut and measure and coordinate and all that jazz.

Aren't they cute?

Then, I found this great idea. Seriously, who doesn't love m&m's and a cute poem? However, after studying the poem for a minute, I thought to myself, "Umm, aren't there BROWN m&m's? Yes, I believe there are!" After a few more minutes (or maybe a half hour at least) of searching around, I found a few more takes on the container, but no mention of the brown m&m's. What the heck people?  So, I took matters into my own hands.

Behold!

The tumblers and m&m's were on sale at Walgreens, I had the ribbon on hand, and then it was just a simple type and print. Awesome, right? I must say, I was probably way too proud of the slight tweaks I made to that poem than was necessary. Still, it made me laugh and I hope it brought a smile to her teacher's as well.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

At the Celtic Festival

We had a great time at the Celtic Festival playing Fairy, learning about different Scottish clans, watching crazy strong men and women, listening to pipes and drums, and watching the drum major competitions. Such fun. Can't wait till next year!

Having a Happy Spring

Please, no paparazzi. :) Waiting in line for the bunnies.

Bunny!

Getting some Spring pictures at the Springs Preserve
She walked like this most of the day. Truly, she thinks she is a princess.

We spent the weekend before Easter enjoying the beautiful weather and taking in some happy family time. First stop, a bunny and chick petting zoo. I had such high hopes for this and was sorely disappointed. Bridget was a trooper though and waited easily in the ridiculously long line happily chatting with others around her and sipping her hot chocolate.

Next, a trip to the Springs Preserve where I knew we wouldn't be disappointed. We love it there and it's one of out go to places for pictures in the sun. Bridget had a great time seeing the flowers blooming, showing off her new springtime dress, and watching the new "Animals of South America" show.
I love the short amount of time we get Spring here in the desert. I'm glad we got out to enjoy it while it lasts.

Ready for Astronomy Night

Miss Bridget has been super interested in the moon (or Luna as she calls her) since she was tiny. When I heard about Astronomy Night, I knew we had to check it out!
The Las Vegas Astronomical Society was awesome and we got the chance to look at Jupiter (we could even see its moons!), the Orion Nebula, open star clusters, and of course, Luna. Bridget asked some great questions for a three year old (Why does it look so small and then so big? Are there any GIRL astronomers?!) and made some great observations (Mommy, the moon is upside down in here!).
I can't wait for Astronomy Day in April!

Reading

Seriously you guys, the girl can read! She picks up books around our house all the time and has no trouble. Her current faves are anything Disney Princess related and the Dance Fairies series. Umm, hello second grade chapter books! Could I be any prouder? Nope, I don't think so.
